Your circle determines who you are

Decide the friends, mentors & leaders you want in your life, in your inner circle, and court them with emotional generosity. Make it matter – Gary W. Goldstein

It’s hard to be bold when you are surrounded by people who are timid. It’s hard to dare when others around you don’t. Your circle will greatly influence who you are, what you do, and how you seek your goals.

We are social beings and one of the main ways we have of checking whether we are making progress, whether we are right, is by looking at those around us. Our closest friends are also the people we measure our success by and who provide a guide for how to live.

If you hang with goal-oriented people, you will hear them talking about their objectives and what they have done to achieve them. We all talk about our experience. This can make you think about your own goals, even if it’s just to keep up.

If the people around you are very hands-off and care only about appearances, you will think more about appearances so that you can keep up with these friends. You might feel less inclined to talk about goals.
Your closest circle, the five or so people you let into your life and spend the most time with, will determine who you are.

Being surrounded by positive people can make you more positive. But being surrounded by complainers will encourage you to complain.

So, who is in your inner circle? Answering this question honestly is important to get to know yourself.

Say you want to be more creative. One way to do this is to surround yourself with people who are seeking the same thing. You can understand each other, support each other, and motivate each other.

Whatever your goal, it can help to seek out others interested in that same goal and working towards it. It makes the process easier in a very natural way, and you will be surprised at how much you can learn from others.

You are the sum of the people around you. This empowers you to make yourself better through the people around you. Seek out those you admire, who share your goals, and values. You will see a wonderful change in your own life!
